Join the Quarry Life Award
Hanson and Alex Fraser invite you to participate in the fifth edition of HeidelbergCement’s International Quarry Life Award; a community research and conservation competition, held in 62 quarries throughout 26 countries.
During 2021 and 2022, we will be opening our quarries in Langwarrin and Wollert, and our Recycling Facility in Clarinda to six community or research groups selected to participate in this onsite biodiversity competition, for a prize of $7,500 (AUD) and the opportunity to compete for international prizes up to €30,000 (approx. $45,000 AUD).
How it Works
The Quarry Life Award is a dual-stream competition aimed at improving habitat and biodiversity.
The research stream is open to academics, scientists, topic experts and NGOs. It includes scientific projects that increase the knowledge of quarry-specific ecology and/or lead to improved biodiversity, landscape or water management at extraction sites.
The community stream is open to individuals and community groups with a passion for the natural environment, including schools, NGOs, youth clubs, community groups and environmental organisations. It includes projects that raise local community awareness about conservation and the development of habitat onsite.
You Could Win
The winning Australian entry will receive a cash prize of $7500 (AUD). The winning entry from each stream will go on to complete in the international competition for prizes of up to €30,000 (approx. $45,000 AUD).
