Case Study - Land Restoration at Hanson Gaskell Sand Quarry

In this video case study, Hanson Australia Ecologist Zoe Keller shares the Banksia Woodlands Restoration at project at Gaskell Sand Quarry in Western Australia.

The successful reclamation and ongoing biodiversity outcomes at Gaskell Sand Quarry are prime examples of Hanson Australia’s 30 year commitment to sustainability.

It demonstrates how out collaborative and long-term industry-scientific partnerships have helped achieve great outcomes for extractive sites and the environment.

We hope this case study inspires scientific and industry professionals to strive towards build a more sustainable future.

This project was awarded the 2008 and 2017 Golden Gecko Award for Environmental Excellence, the 2017 Pinnacle Award for Green Business Excellence, and placed second at the International Quarry Life Awards in 2018. This case study was presented at the annual conference of the Society for Ecological Restoration in 2021.
