Imagecrete Exposed Concrete

Decorative concrete that looks as great today as it does tomorrow

Hanson Imagecrete Exposed Concrete: An Overview

When you want a hardwearing surface that has a designer-edge, Imagecrete Exposed decorative concrete looks as great today as it does tomorrow.

Driveways, pool surrounds, paths, and al frescos – they’re all areas where looks and performance are crucial.

For instance, tiles might look nice, but they’re prone to cracking and grout discolouration over time. Pavers tend to subside and crack too. Timber decking around the pool and in the al fresco area might look good at the beginning, but its colour fades, needs lots of maintenance and sometimes even rots.

Imagecrete Exposed is a good-looking alternative that performs for a lifetime – without a lifetime of maintenance. Made from exposing some of the aggregates (sand and small stones) in the concrete, it also looks natural, to fit in well with natural surroundings.

The natural look that fits in

No matter whether your home is contemporary or traditional, Imagecrete Exposed decorative concrete, with its natural-stone look, can fit in – and bring the outdoors in. (It also adds texture, that all important ingredient of industrial chic.)

For instance, when you use Imagecrete Exposed in the al fresco, courtyard or pool surround, it helps these areas become an extension of the house. Use it in external entrances and they can seamlessly transition to ground-floor foyers and living areas, especially when they’re using Imagecrete Polished decorative concrete.

Plus with an array of exposure depths, a variety of customisable coloured aggregates and a limitless range of colours, whatever your design idea; Hanson’s experienced Imagecrete team can create a look to meet your project needs.

Cost-effective option

One of the big drawbacks of other surfaces – like tiles and timber decking for example – is that they’re more expensive than installing Imagecrete Exposed. Part of the reason is that installing Imagecrete Exposed takes only one trade.

The finish is achieved by your concrete contractor working on the concrete while it’s still wet or within a few days of concrete placement.

Engineered for multiple uses

With its rugged, non-skid surface, Hanson’s Imagecrete Exposed is resistant to heavy-traffic and ideal for most flatwork, including:

  • Residential homes: Decorative driveways, al fresco areas, landscape pathways and pool surrounds
  • Civil projects: Install a slip-resistant surface in pathways, ramped areas and cityscapes

Hanson Imagecrete Exposed Concrete: Benefits

Hanson’s Imagecrete Exposed is the decorative concrete that gives you limitless natural looks with enduring performance.

Hanson Imagecrete Exposed Concrete

  • Limitless design options
  • Performs forever
  • Low maintenance

Limitless design options

If you’d like to have that indoor-outdoor connection and a natural look in a hardwearing material, then Imagecrete Exposed Concrete is a perfect choice for your driveway, al fresco, path, or pool surround. It will also never look like your neighbour’s! It will also contrast well with normal concrete and other decorative treatments like stenciling, stamping and coloured concrete.

  • The level of aggregate exposure can range from heavy to light, depending on the style and design of your project
  • Aggregates can be set in one of three concrete options - standard concrete, off-white concrete or in any one of our full-depth colour concrete options.
  • With 60 standard colours, and easy colour matching to Colorbond fence, gutter or roof colours there is a host of colour options
  • If that’s not enough, Hanson Dynamic Colour Matching can also give you any colour you dream up - and match to any colour including paint and tile

Performs forever

Unlike competing sedimentary materials, like sandstone for example, that are compacted and forced together, Hanson Imagecrete Exposed decorative concrete, is composed of inert materials bound into a homogenous mass. This means Imagecrete Exposed Concrete has extremely high compressive strength and abrasion resistance.

When it comes to colour, Hanson uses LiquidColour™ liquid pigments, based on iron oxides, to add the colour to Imagecrete Exposed decorative concrete. This means that the colour completely permeates the concrete, so that even if your surfaces are damaged, it won’t be as obvious.

In addition, Imagecrete colours are added using Hanson’s fully automated liquid pigment system, which improves accuracy and is traceable through autographic batch records.

  • Colour permeates all the way through the concrete
  • Fade-resistant to weather, sun – including ultraviolet light (UV)
  • Automated liquid pigment system for accuracy and traceability

Different finishes

Hanson’s limitless range of colours can be enhanced even further, using different finish. For example, heavy exposure increases slip resistance, which makes it even more suitable for high traffic areas.

  • Light exposure reveals the fine aggregates (sand) and a few stones of the coarse aggregate.
  • Heavy exposure reveals more stone, resulting in the aggregate protruding from the concrete surface.

Low maintenance

Unlike timber decks, there’s no re-oiling needed with Imagecrete. Nor is there any need to clean discoloured grout, as there is with tiles. Colours are fade-resistant and even uncoloured Imagecrete Exposed, just needs a hose and a broom every now and again.
