A national batch computer initiative has recently been rolled out with six new Command Batch systems installed across our Australian concrete plants and 38 completed upgrades.
“The modern Command Batch system was developed by ready-mix concrete technology experts, Command Alkon,” says Sam Russell, Eastern Region Concrete Operations Manager.
“We already have nineteen plants using the new system, so implementing it at 44 additional plants have really allowed Hanson to increase the level of accuracy, control and consistency we have over our batching processes.”
Additional benefits of the Command Batch system include its reporting tool, which can be used by Plant and Operations Managers to earmark quality issues and identify any production trends.
As part of the national roll-out, each region has also appointed a ‘Super- User,’ to provide advice, support and training for batchers.
The implementation process commenced in November 2009 and was complete by March 2010.
There are now plans for Super Users to visit other plants to oversee the system’s use during large pours.
